Shane Hampton | Main Street America

Shane Hampton, AICP, CNU‑A, leads Main Street America’s work on the USDOT’s Thriving Communities Program, delivering tailored technical assistance to under-resourced communities to help them to shape important local projects and advance toward funding and implementation.

Previously, Shane was the executive director of the University of Oklahoma Institute for Quality Communities, a community outreach center in the Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture. He coordinated teams to deliver community engagement and technical assistance in city planning and placemaking for towns, cities, tribes, and non-profits. He also led the production of the Placemaking Conference, a nationally recognized program highlighting community development best practices. Shane earned a master’s degree in Regional & City Planning and a bachelor’s in Public Affairs and Administration, both from the University of Oklahoma.

Shane is based in Oklahoma City where he’s involved in local organizations connected to development and placemaking. He is the programs chair for Urban Land Institute Oklahoma, and serves on the boards of the Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership, Independent Shopkeepers Association, and Art Afloat.
